2013 Goals

I am a firm believer that goals are like a road map --

Let's say you want to take a vacation:

Do you just hop in the car and start driving?

A rare few do, while most of us make a plan. We figure out a destination, how we are going to get there and what we need along the way.

A goal is like that!

  1. What do you want to accomplish?
  2. How will you make it happen?
  3. What do you need to make it a reality?

See- just like a map for your future.
=)

If you haven't taken time to make a few goals for this coming year -- I invite you to do it today! You can learn more about goals, and how to set them, HERE.

As the year winds down, it is good to take a look at what your goals for the year were, and see how you did.

I had mind broken down into segments: Health, Family, Home, Education, Business, Finance, Religious/Giving

Health:

  • Loose 30# (I did 35 pounds last year with my restrictions)
  • Learn Tai Chi
  • Scale down the meat. We scaled down red meat last year but need to add more grains and beans to our diet.

Family: The same as last year

  • A vacation this year, just the 3 of us (we usually have my or his folks along...) Our 2013 Disney trip is planned! We just aren't telling Miss Sarah that we are going yet!
  • Make Sarah's "down" day of the week special
  • A monthly Date Night with my husband
Home: We didn't get as far here as I had hoped last year, a nice chunk of change went to a new vehicle for us last summer. I will say, it is nice to fork over CASH to the dealership!
  • Keep packing for the eventual move - the things we don't really need right NOW. I really need to attack the basement
  • Get stuff ready for the May Garage Sale - decluttering and freeing ourselves of excess  (went GREAT and we made over $1,000!)
  • Finish stairwell project (floor and door) - gotta hit up the ReStore for a new door
  • Paint living room (going to a beige from the green on green "bag paint"
  • Install new dishwasher (It's been sitting in my garage for 8 years....)
  • Install new bathroom vanity (It's been in the basement for 5 years...)
  • Get Pink Plastic Tile off the bathroom walls
Education:
  • Piano lessons for Miss Sarah
  • Have Miss Sarah enter the Science Fair -- done! she did the electrical conductivity of fruits.
  • Keep working on Countries with Sarah
  • For me: learn to Make Bagels, Make Soap, Make tortillas, Make Yogurt in the crock pot, Can Chicken (It will give me more space in my freezer), Can Ground Beef. I also want to read 100 books this year. (I have read 47 books so far!)
Business:
  • Double my Tupperware 2012 end result, helping twice as many families reach their goals
  • Teach 6 classes a month, helping other families save money at the store --looking a little lean for the summer but OK through May and starting up again in September
  • Have 5 Scrapbooking Crops in Madison -- all scheduled and filling up!
  • Keep this blog going, it's a free resource to a lot of people.
Finance:
  • $5,000 more in the Edvest
  • $10,000 more in the House Fund
  • $10,000 more in retirement
  • $2,000 for a vacations -- all saved!
  • $1,200 for annual grocery budget -- maybe I should change it to $11,025 because of January.... staying in check here
  • $5,000 for our church (includes donations) On pace!
Religious/Giving
  • Keep Miss Sarah with a perfect attendance for Sunday School - blew this one. We skipped a few weeks because of funerals and my mother in laws critical condition at Hospice
  • Keep the Blessing Bag Ministry Going - the Daisy Troop will be stuffing  Stuffed bags soon for drop off!
  • Keep donating to the food pantry
  • 10 school kits for Luther World Relief
  • Ring Bells for Salvation Army
  • Operation Shoebox x 5
  • Giving Tree x 5
That about sums up our goal list -- I hope you didn't find it too boring, LOL!

Keep in mind some years our goals were to pay things off (car, credit card, house, doctor bills) ...tuck away adoption money...etc. Life is a work in progress -- and you have to look at where you are now, and go from there.
=)

Blessings -
Dannelle
