Meal Plan Monday
It's the beginning of a new week!
In my coupon class, I teach people how to save money at the stores. That is half of the equation for saving money on food, meal planning is the other half to it.
You have to USE the food you have brought home and not let yourself make the "fast food run" - those add up fast and kill your budget!
Meal planning also saves you time - no more getting home and playing "open up the cupboard doors, what falls out is for dinner" game. You KNOW what you are going to make/eat and have the recipes and ingredients handy. THIS saves you both time and money, two great things!
Last week was kind of a disaster: I had bronchitis and a migraine - along with a lot of events we had to attend. This week is a little easier - with the week ending up with a huge birthday party for my favorite Soon-To-Be five year old. (wanna guess who?). One night of work, they a bunch of fun -- here's the plan. You will see a few repeats - you do NOT want to make a chili dog casserole when you have a migraine and are nauseous, trust me.
Any time you see ** it means it was something pulled out of the freezer.
Here is the list:
Breakfast will include:
- Pears or Apples
- Emerald Breakfast To Go Granola/Nut packs
- boxed cereal (might as well, we have 30 boxes in stock!)
- frozen waffles
Lunches as normal (sandwiches, soup, left overs, tappas plates) and for dinner...
Monday : Grilled Shish Ka Bobs, oven roasted potatoes, green salad
Tuesday - Fridge Clean Out (cleaning/using up leftovers)
Wednesday - Chili Dog** Casserole with potato salad
Thursday - Cold Tuna Pasta Salad
Friday - Creamed Chipped Beef over toast, glazed carrots.
Saturday - Birthday Party Food! Grilled stuff for the family party**, Lava Punch and Dinosaur Cake for the kiddo party. We only have to get buns - woohoo!
Sunday - Father's day! He's getting _______ and we are going to eat at _______ . (sorry, he reads my blog too, LOL).
Shish Ka Bobs are SOOOO easy to do and a great way to stretch meat! ONE small steak and ONE chicken breast can be diced to make 8 skewers when you add a few veggies! We choose onions and mushrooms.
Recipe for the Chili Dog Casserole will be out this week!

What are you going to feed YOUR family this week?
Can't wait to see the Chili Dog Casserole Recipe! Sounds yummy! :-) I am a strict menu planner. Especially to help rotate foods out of my stockpile/pantry. I have a small pantry and don't have an abundance, but I stock up when I get a good deal. Couponing with no plan for using what you get is just reckless and a waist of money and time. :-) Great tips!
