What To Stock Up On In October

Image
Everyone knows that produce is seasonal...so are a lot of other items at your store! We know it's smart to buy items at the lowest price of their selling cycles, and then stock up! The idea is to create a stockpile that will last you 3-12 months, or until the product again reaches its lowest price. ( Not that you can do that with fresh produce unless your process it...) Convenience/Packaged Foods are seasonal just like produce. Every month we have new things to look for. Here is what is "hot" for September - keep your eyes out for the sales and have your coupons ready! October brings us a few fun things: Halloween, National Seafood Month and Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!  Candy is the "no brainer" here for Halloween. We don't have a huge sweet tooth but do look for mini peanut butter cups and H...

Sunday Coupon Preview

Image
It looks like there will be FOUR inserts in the paper this weekend ... a Pepsi Co Moments, a Procter & Gamble, a SmartSource and a Red Plum!  Coupons for Dove, All, Bertolli (soups and meals), Hefty, Colgate, Covergirl, Febreeze, and about any snacky stuff you can imagine. TONS of coupons to make up for all of those that expire that day (it is the end of the quarter). You can check out what coupons are on the national line up -- but keep in mind that we may see slightly different ones in our own area. Want more coupons? Here is an easy way to get them: COUPON CLIPPING SERVICES You can always use a clipping service to get more insert coupons or ones that were not available in your local paper. I recommend these 4 sites Now that the Dollar Tree no longer carries the Sunday paper for $1.00 - it's time to talk discount subscriptions. (sigh) Check it out HERE to see if you have any special offers in your area.

Frugal Friday: 5 Road Trip Basics To Save Big Bucks On Vacay

Image
Some of these we have talked about recently - thanks to our big Disney trip! Add them all up together and you can have a GREAT family vacation and not blow the budget. 1) Let's start with souvenirs. If you have little people, you are in trouble as most places have gift shops geared right to them - almost every major attraction in Magic Kingdom had a gift shop as you left it (Pirate's of the Caribbean, etc). Be proactive with a gift of the day! I have them wrapped and Miss Sarah picks one a day to open, each morning. What kind of stuff was inside them? Mostly things I have seen on clearance or at the local Dollar Store.   2. Take gift cards. This saves your food budget when you want to go out to eat. You can earn the FREE with so many different ways on the Internet, we use our credit card points for them. 3. Take Food. Start with a cooler if you are in the car, and shelf stable basics if you are staying in a hotel. A few simple items from the local ...

Upcoming Classes

October is a busy month with Tupperware's Annual Megga Deal for Hosts and the fact that it is Girl Scout Cookie Selling time for our area (and I am the troop leader) so....... that means only a handful of classes in the next 30 days. All coupon classes are 2 hours long, Meal Planning is only an hour. November is full of "Black Friday Boot Camp" classes, where I teach how to find all the deals on Black Friday, make your shopping plan of attack and score tons of killer deals to cover birthdays and gift occasions for the rest of the year. You will learn how to think out of the box on grocery store and drugstore deals too! (If you are in the Madison Area, I have one of these in October, through the Madison School and Community Recreation program ( learn more HERE ) Coupon Clipping 101: - Clinton, September 29th , 9:00am at the Clinton Public Library.
