What To Stock Up On In October
We know it's smart to buy items at the lowest price of their selling cycles, and then stock up! The idea is to create a stockpile that will last you 3-12 months, or until the product again reaches its lowest price. (Not that you can do that with fresh produce unless your process it...)
Convenience/Packaged Foods are seasonal just like produce. Every month we have new things to look for. Here is what is "hot" for September - keep your eyes out for the sales and have your coupons ready!
October brings us a few fun things: Halloween, National Seafood Month and Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!
Candy is the "no brainer" here for Halloween. We don't have a huge sweet tooth but do look for mini peanut butter cups and Hershey Kisses for our Christmas baking. (tucked inside peanut butter cookies). Along with that, the deals are back on simple baking supplies like canned pumpkin, sugar, flour and even chocolate chips.
You should see some great deals on seafood this month -- everything from tuna to salmon! Just keep watching your store ads.
Now, let's talk pet food. We should see a lot of coupons and sales on all Purina and Pedigree dog foods... please consider picking up a package or two, even if you don't have a dog. Donate it to your local animal shelter. This simple act could help their budget enough to support the animals longer, until they have a new home. I always hate reading that some shelter had to put a bunch of animals down because they simply couldn't support them.
