Wal-Mart's Price Matching Policy Details

If you have taken my Coupon Clipping 101 Class - you know I talk about price matching.

Here is the "official" info that the policy for ad matching has become more defined. Nothing has changed but the gaps have been filled in. The new policy may or may not make it to the walmart website soon, but it is for all stores.

1. Wal-Mart will abide by limits set forth by competitors stores when honoring a price match from said store.
EX. Kroger has 10 loaves of Mary Jane bread for $10. Their bread is originally $1.25. In order to price match the bread at Wal-Mart you would either have to buy 10 for $10 or you can price match one at $1.25.

EX. Office Max has two pocket portfolio folders on sale for $0.01 with a limit of 5. You may purchase 5 at $0.01 but no more than 5 in a single transaction. You may do multiple transactions.

2. Wal-Mart will not honor price matches for items after ECB, UP+, or RR have been added as the ECB, UP+, RR are not manufacturers coupons (or in the case of RR) and/or are not coupons accepted under the Wal-Mart coupon policy.
EX. Rite Aid has Schick razors on sale for $8.99 but after a $4.00 RR It is like paying $4.99. Wal-Mart will price match the razors for $8.99 but not for $4.99.

3. Wal-Mart will not honor price matches for store brand items.
EX. Ingles has their store specific brand of bleach on sale for $1.00. Wal-Mart will not price match (either/or/both) Great Value brand bleach/any other brand of bleach.

AS A RESULT OF THE NEW POLICY-
Cashiers have to double check each price match (unless they have already familiarized themselves with the ads prior to coming to work, as they are advised to do). This is not because they distrust their customers but is an effort to make sure that we are upholding our new policy.

Cashiers will also be double checking coupons to make sure we are abiding by coupon limitations (PG can only do 4 like coupons per transaction). This is not because they think their customers are 'trying to pull a fast one' but just to make sure we are doing our job properly.

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Cashiers should still greet you and abide by the 3A's of Wal-Mart. Acknowledge our customers, Act for our customers by treating their items and time with respect, and Appreciate our customers by genuinely thanking them for their business and the opportunity to price match/accept your coupons.

I hope this helps!
