Bacon-O-Rama!

In my coupon and meal planning class, I talk about how food shouldn't be in your freezer for more than four months. That is the magic number of months that it takes to start turning the quality of your food into a less desirable item.
You have seen it yourselves:
  • the frozen green peas start to look like raisins...
  • your cured meats like bacon, hot dogs, ham, etc get saltier
  • your roasts get tougher and drier
Here is one little tip: Thaw the meat, cook it and refreeze for up to four more months!

Today sees me cooking off 5 pounds of bacon.  Yes, we will be set for quiches, BLTs, my Autumn Chowder, and more for quite a while, LOL!

I just LOVE the smell of bacon - don't you?
