Field Trip Pictures From Yesterday

I told you I was out all day with a field trip -- you simply have to LOVE the Madison area and all that it has available!

Here are some pictures of what we did with 98 Kindergartners yesterday -- they all wore their Tye-Dye T-shirts that they made JUST for the field trip.

Cookies from the Farmer's Market on King Street (we had vouchers for the kids) and we got squeaky cheese curds too!
A quick tour of the Capitol - and did you know not one power tool was used in making it?
Ahhh--- we made it to the zoo, but only after lunch and...
A quick visit to the playground and "big shoe"
Woot-woot!
I teamed up with another parent and we watched 5 kiddos - here were "our boys" on the big tortoise
They all got tokens for a carousel ride too (normally it's $1.00)
Then, a quick lunch for the goats (and hand sanitizer for everyone after it, LOL)
You simply have to LOVE these kinds of things - they have a bunch all over the Zoo...from Polar Bears to Orangutans.
If you haven't been to the Henry Vilas Zoo -- you need to. It's FREE
(unless you do the rides or feed the goats)
The kids have a blast and so do you.

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
