Frugal Friday: Bless Others
Did you know...
That is a lot of hungry children!
Why is this a topic of Frugal Friday?
Simple -- when more people have food, they need less social services. When they need less social services, your taxes don't go up. (in theory...)
What is the REAL reason?
If everyone added just ONE extra item to their grocery cart a week - with the intent of giving it away, there would be NO hungry children in the world.
Wouldn't that be awesome?
:)
The bible tells us to feed others in many verses... my favorite is Luke 3:11
And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
I think it is much better than Proverbs 28:27
Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.
I LOVE programs like F.I.T.S. in the Wisconsin Dells that sends back packs home with children, full of food ... as well as working on holiday gifts, warm coats, etc.
Remember, it is not charity. It is not a donation. It is simply the act of BLESSING someone else. The rewards come back to your heart in so many different ways that you simply can't count them all.
:)
That all being said - May 12th is the Stamp Out Hunger campaign of the US Postal service.
I challenge y'all to clean your cupboards and free yourself of all the items that your family will not use before it expires. The postal carriers no longer have huge holiday catalogs to lug around and deliver (remember the Sears Wish Books?) so let's all give them a big work out.
Blessings to you-
Dannelle
- One of each eleven Wisconsin families have a hard time putting food on the table?
- Almost half the people using food pantries have at least one person in the family working a full time job?
