Madison Restaurant Week is Back!

I love traveling to New York - and it's been waaaaay too long. We would do fun different things like hop on Amtrak in Columbus and tide the train to the Big Apple - with a sleeper car! (It takes about 24 hours by train). We always tried to time it so we would catch Shakespeare in the Park and Restaurant Week! That meant MORE fun for LESS money. SCORE!

What IS Restaurant Week?
It is a week that a bunch of different restaurants offer special menus and pricing so you can "try" them on for size and see if like them enough to come back another time. Usually there are some pretty darned decent bargains AND it's fun to try places you never tried before.

Lunches are $15.00 and 3 course Dinners are $25.00

Madison, WI has their own week, thanks to their partnership with Madison Magazine and Madison Originals, and it starts on the 22nd.

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
