DIY Thursday - Pear Butter!
This is the perfect time of the year to pick up a few extra pears and make some Pear Butter!
This yummy sweet treat is perfect on those cold winter mornings when it fills the nooks and crannies on that toasted English Muffin or on your fresh waffle!
My recipe is simple. It's easy. Your crock pot does most of the work. (Yippee!)
You need 5# of Pears. My favorite kind?
Sale.
Bosc, Anjou, whatever. As long as it is on sale.
You also want them SOFT. Not moldy, but a few sweet spots (brown) are OK. What you see in the picture are still NOT ready for this recipe. You need to wait a few more days. **Keep in mind that pears are on the dirty dozen list so, unless you know they are organic, you want to peel them.

I pop them in the blender to puree them quick and dump into my crock pot.
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 tsp lemon juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
This is where you could can it -- popping into your hot and ready jars, water bath for 20 minutes or so OR pop into a few containers,
let cool and then pop into your freezer.
We tested this batch .... Yum!
