Christmas Craft Countdown: Rudolph Thumbprint Ornaments

Today means there are 83 days days until we get the big visit from St Nicholas. Now, don't panic! To try and help you, we have put together a list of great stuff to help you count down to the big event.
  • There will be 31 different crafts that you still have time to make, for gifts, in October.
  • There will be 30 different cookie recipes, that you can gather ingredients to bake, off in November.
  • There will be 24 different things you can add to your family holiday traditions in December - to help keep the Christ in Christmas.
Let's get started with those crafts!

Ornaments are a great gift - I like to date them so they become a simple memory and add them to gift baskets of home made jam, sweet breads, etc. Here is something sweet from Little Bit Funky -- thumbprint ornaments! A box or ornaments usually runs $3-6 and has 5-10 ornaments in it - that is a VERY thrifty gift.

What do you need?
Ornaments, brown craft paint, a little red paint and a black marker..

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
