November Shopping Summary/Update

Here is my shopping summary for November:
 
$100.00 Monthly Budget
-$8.20 Miss Sarah's School lunches
-$26.44 Target (Halloween Clearance)
-$35.45 Copps last week
-$33.53 Copps 11/17
-$3.99 Menards (Black Friday, Klement's sausage)
-$10.00 Hostess Outlet (Good Bye Twinkies!)
-$7.53 ALDI 11/27 (produce run: celery, apples, bananas, avocados
(-$25.14 over budget)

I was $42.87 UNDER last month so I am $17.23 under budget for the year so far.
That gives me $117.24 until New Years Eve!!!!
:)

Now, what put me over?

1) Thank you Hostess for closing.
{sigh}
We RARELY bought any of that stuff and had to hit the outlet that day it closed for a few boxes of things.
2) I also got those pot roasts... I didn't need them as I had a few in the freezer but they were under $3/pound and I know beef prices will be jumping soon.
 
A quick review of what I bought this month:
  • At Target I got enough pretzels, chips, popcorn and fruit roll ups to help out Miss Sarah's class and fill in with her school lunches through the end of May.
  • At Copp's I did general shopping, got 2 pot roasts and 10 packs of Lil Smokies for the freezer and picked up 50 boxes of cereal for the food pantry.
  • At Hostess I got Twinkies, Fruit Pies and Mini Muffins that are living in the freezer. We will dole them out sparingly until they are made again, I hope.

    I just don't get how that's possible-ugh. Can I go to the grocery store one day with you?!! Totally serious!!

      By all means - love to have you!
      I am only looking for a few specific things at the momment, so I am watching the ads, but I usually do 6AM at Copps East on either a Wed or Sat.

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
