What to Stock Up On in May

Everyone knows that produce is seasonal...if you have taken my Coupon Clipping 101 class you have heard me talk about pantry items being seasonal too!

In January I covered the New Year's Resolution items,

February was National Canned food month,
March was National Frozen food month,
and we saw Easter Clearance items in April.

We know it's smart to wait until a product is on sale and then stock up!
The idea is to create a stockpile that will last you 3-12 months, or until the product again reaches its lowest price. (Not that you can do that with fresh produce unless your process it!)

Convenience/Packaged Foods are seasonal just like produce!
Every month we have new things to look for. Here is what is "hot" for May - keep your eyes out for the sales and have your coupons ready.

It's the kick off of the summer BBQ season!

Thanks for to Memorial Day, we have certain things to keep an eye on this month:
BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, condiments, charcoal, salad dressing, potato chips, dips. Don't forget Paper Products like plates, utensils, bug spray, and sunscreen!
***This is a GREAT time to stock up on all things for the entire summer! It's the BEST time of the year to buy Ketchup, Canned Sodas, etc! We often see name brand colas at $2 a 12-pack and last year, I got ketchup at $.10 a bottle.

Let's talk Meat Marinades!
It's the easiest way to freeze your meats - in a baggie with the marinade included so it seasons as it freezes.

Think Mexican!
We have Cinco De Mayo for things like Salsa, tortillas and taco shells - tortillas freeze well in a Tupperware Large Round container (although I want to try making some myself this year...)
I hope this helps you know what to keep and eye out for!
=)
Happy shopping!
