Christmas In July ??
Oiy!
No wonder all the craft department of the stores are filling with holiday themed items - so all the crafty people can have plenty of time to whip something up, LOL!
It got me thinking... what to do for the holidays!
Miss Sarah always gets 3 gifts, like the baby Jesus did. (Gold, Frankincense and Mhyr) Usually something to wear, something to play with and something slightly educational. I also talk the other family members into the "Gift of Activity". This is where they can help pay for Dance Lessons, Piano Lessons, Gymnastics, Tennis Lessons or Karate - something that promotes physical activity (fighting that childhood obesity epidemic) and helps eliminate the amount of toys I get to step on. (See, a win-win!)
That takes me to the other members of the family, most who are in that "down-sizing" phase of their life. Home made gifts are a good thing!
What Have I Planned?
Little gift baskets that will have some of the following:
Nothing to clutter their homes, nothing to re-gift, just consumables that I know they don't make.
Now, for Miss Sarah.
I have it all figured out! (Thank you Pinterest, LOL)
To wear?
I am making this shirt for her that should be good January thru March (We normally have snow 6 months of the year in Wisconsin):
Isn't it just the cutest?
Super easy with Stitch-witch and a little zig-zag machine action to cement the appliqued pieces.
:)
To play with, I thought a pass to Build A Bear - letting her pick and "make" her own baby. This also becomes an activity.
To educate, I want to get this from Nerdy Baby:
I already picked up "stocking stuffers" last year, with the post holiday clearance sales. I only need to add an orange and candy cane (that has the legend of it attached).
Other than a few holiday cookies and pot luck items, I am golden!
There should be plenty of time to ENJOY the month of December!!
Christmas Pageants at church, Piano recital, caroling with my Daisy Troop to the local Senior Center, giving trees, Operation Shoe Box and more. I can hardly wait!
:)
Have you started thinking about what you are going to do yet?
