It is a pretty easy week so am doing a few more "labor intensive" dishes this week like home made tortellini, and my aunt's marinara sauce. Again, I use using up things we have - working through some of the stockpile. We have a LOT of dried pasta - hence two different meals with it this week! In a large mixing bowl, add ingredients as listed, mixing well. Line muffin tins with cupcake wrappers (YES, I know mine are Christmassy -- I bought them on holiday clearance, LOL) and fill muffin cups halfway. I don't have time to give you totals but will later this afternoon - it's a BUSY day! Everything went as planned , the picture doesn't show the 30 boxes of cereal There were a few questions on Facebook yesterday, so here are some answers :) 1) They only had $20 Pizza Hut Gift Cards, not $25 so I switched it to a Subway. It didn't kick out a Catalina for the $5 offer but came out as a "Check Out Values" coupon on the register tape. 2) I under estimated on one transaction and had to toss in a candy bar to bring it up from a negative total. 3) My store went by shelf price on the cereal, I didn't have to add in the $9 in extra products. 4) The milk/egg deal IS a rolling offer - I used the Catalina's from previous transactions to hit my $25 total and they still printed out the new offers. 5) I still was able to use my Walgreen's Register Rewards. (some stores have stopped taking them). 6) One transaction didn't get the $.40 milk store ...

The last time some of the coupons came out for the NEW cereals, my store wasn't stocking them yet! NOW, they have them at Copp's and I zipped over for a few minutes yesterday to make a quick price list. I also wanted to see if they were going to be part of the General Mills Cereal Deal and they ARE! ;) These are the smallest sized boxes in the deal - making them pretty close to FREE after doubling coupons and having that $9 taken off instantly. In my coupon class I talk about keeping your separate Copp's/Pick N Save transactions organized. The "envelope system" is a great, low tech, low cost way to do just that! In the upper left hand corner (where your return address would be) I put the coupons I am using, with a circled total as to how many I have. The coupons are actually INSIDE the envelope. On the upper right hand side (where your stamp would go) is the transaction number. In this case, this is the six transaction I am going to do on Saturday. On the bottom left hand corner is what I think I should pay. This may be a "rough" total if I am unsure of something like the price of a dozen eggs. In this case, I am expecting the cashier to tell me $.38 In the bottom right hand corner is what I think I should get back, if there are any current Catalina offers, etc. In the middle is your grocery list...all of this is in pencil of course, so you can erase it and use it for the next week! I LOVE gift card deals!!! One of the big things we learned when tracking our spending was the simple fact that we ate out WWWWaaaaayyyy too much! We simply made a few changes: 1) Turned in credit card points for $25 restaurant gift cards. (we had a LOT of points and got a LOT of them!) 2) Watched for gift card deals like buy one for $25 and get $5 back. 3) Went to family friendly places on nights that Kids Eat Free 4) Stopped drinking anything but water or milk.
