The New Roundy's Flier and program changes!

OK -- the new flier is out and a few things:
1) Saturday Double Days seems to be over at Copp's. They still show Wednesday (yay!) but the perk for Saturday AM shopping seems to be gone for the moment.

2) Fuel Perks program was extended BUT it is half of what it used to be! It is $.05 a gallon discount for every $50 you spend, not the dime that we had been loving. (sigh)

3) Meat prices...the good and the bad.
The good news is that bacon seems to be coming down - Farmland bran is on sale for $3.99/# and says it is a $.50 savings, a big drop from the $6 price we had seen a few months ago.

The bad news is that beef seems to have gone up and stayed up. I think the new "BUY NOW" price for roasts will have to be $2.50/# - which still excludes Angus. The Beef Tenderloin is on sale for $5.99/# and we are used to seeing $4.99/#

The Jenni-O ground turkey seems high since we got ground turkey a month ago for $1/# - now it is $3.50 for a 14-20 oz package.

Chicken Drumsticks or Thighs seems like a good buy at $.98/# -- we just don't like dark meat, LOL! So does the Whole Boneless Pork Loin @$1.99/#. I have gotten these before, cut them into chops and wrapped in bacon to freeze.
=)
Everything is better with bacon!

4) Some things that jumped out at me:
Roundy's Chunk Cheese eight oz for $.98 (limit 2) - this is a good fill for building that $25 transaction for you to double your coupons. Always buy the chunk and grate it yourself so you don't get the extra "non-caking" agents in your food!

Rozini Pasta is down to $1 -- which will be free with double coupons.

Produce is slim pickings at my price point, we are left with potatoes ($.50/#), baby carrots ($1/#) and Red Grapefruit or Extra Fancy Navel Oranges. It's a good thing Aldi has some great deals this week!

Yoplait has their Delights and Splitz on sale again 2/$4 -- but I could only find $.50 coupons, not the $1 that I had been getting. Still, I have my daughter thinking that she is getting a treat with "chocolate raspberry pudding" and I know better. It will be the same price as the Hunts pudding cups but a LOT healthier!
=)
They are boasting a "white sale" on Dairy, but I simply don't see stellar deals...Add the rest of the flier that is loaded with Lean Cuisine, Special K, and and vitamins - clearly aiming at those with new year's resolutions.

What am I aiming for next Wednesday?
baby carrots @$1
1 bag potatoes @$2.50
2 bricks cheese @$.98
5 yolpait @$2.00
1 gallon Milk @$1.98
---this takes me up to $17.50ish---
**I want to see if they have any Egg Nog left -- I have a killer cookie recipe! It keeps well in the cans.
**I MAY pick up a few of the Roundy's breaded chicken entrees @$1 - I like them on hand for a quick dinner with rice and peas -- chicken Kiev or chicken & broccoli. I know I am out of them.
**I MAY pick up a pound of bacon - they have a $.55 coupon on their website that would drop it to $3.45 or $2.89 if doubled. I am going through bacon withdrawals and want a BLT!!!

I would double the transaction to use my last Wags $$ and my $6 that I got from Copp's Jingle Cash promo.

What looks good to you?

Comments

  1. I was REALLY disappointed with the sales ad this week. I've noticed the meat prices are up too. We just ordered 1/2 a cow from my friend. Averages to about $2/lb for ground chuck, steaks, roasts, ect. (everything!)

  2. GREAT deal on the half cow - that is about half of what the going rate for those is
    ;)
Maybe, I will look into that, when (and if) I ever empty out my chest freezer, LOL!
