How to kill off five pounds of ground beef!

Image
First you have to make some hamburger patties for the freezer - nothing says lovin' like a grilled burger in the middle of February... Then you want to season them, before stacking and poppin' into the freezer. I froze four and we had two right away for lunch! Then toss the rest into the mixer with your mealoaf seasonings (see under OMAC link for ground beef recipes) and fill 12 muffin cups You should have enough left to make mini meatballs (I use a cookie scoop) to fill and 8x8 pan. Pop them both in the over at 350 and whip up the meatlof glaze.Use 1/3 cup chili sauce, 1/3 Miracle Whip and 1/3 cup brown sugar, seriously - it comes out SOOOO yummy! After 10 minutes, pull out the muffin pan and glaze them...return to the over for another 10-15 minutes. Remove all from the oven and let cool before you package them for the freezer! . See how easy that was? =)

A Stockpile Swap!

Image
One of my fellow frugal buddies came to my Coupon 101 class took the stockpile swap idea and ran with it! Her "evite" said: Have you ever stocked up on things you won't use like tooth paste, shampoo, lotions, cereal, can goods, cake mixes etc.... Well bring 10 items to my house and an appetizer dish to pass. Everything must have at least one month before expiring. We will put everything on a table and each person will get to pick an item until they are all gone (all leftovers to be donated to Sun Prairie food pantry). If you would like to come or have questions, please let me know :o) How cute - even a smiley face! I went, had fun chatting with the girlies and came home with 9 new items (new to me!) I took pizza sauce, crackers, tuna and soup and came home with: We had great frugal chats and I picked their brains for a few new classes I have in the works...I highly suggest YOU try one with your friends! =) Here are my new items: I see Sausage Balls from the dressing, meat

Banking on Disney

Image
The Tupperware National Convention (Jubilee) is in Orlando this year and at a Disney Hotel. We are going and taking Ms Sarah for her first ever, Disney experience! =) We are doing a lot of it on the cheap: **Driving down instead of the three of us flying and renting a car for a week. **Taking the Tupperware room block at 75% off retail! **Buying food at a local store and using our room fridge and microwave **Getting park passes through Tupperware and more! I want her involved in this - from the planning on up so we are starting at the beginning. Saving money! We turned an empty milk jug into a bank! First we washed it and then she decorated it with dinosaur stickers and sharpie markers. Isn't it beautiful? Spare change will go in here, until it hopefully fills and we have to create a second bank. We started feeding it with all the change we found in the house. I hope this helps teach her the importance of setting a goal and breaking it down into bite sized pieces to make it happen

TONS of printable coupons!

Just perusing the sales fliers today and this is what jumped out at me: Remember my price guidelines (Produce under $1 a pound and meat under $2 a pound) They had a lot of their private label stuff featured in the flier this week...which I don't really care for vs. name brand. Produce: Kiwi 5/$1 (should be at least a pound) Stemilt Anjou Pears or Red Anjou Pears $.99/# Dole Iceberg Lettuce $.99 each (weigh them to get a heavier one) Golden Cantaloupe $1.88 each - see if you can find one that is 1.75# or heavier **Frozen veggies are 3# for $2 - Midwest Country Fare Meat: Chicken Split Breasts $.99/# Honeysuckle White Ground Turkey $1.99/# (we have seen this for $1 at Copp's) Bar S Jumbo Franks $1 for 1# package...not high on our quality list, but a good price for filler weenies - think beanie weenies, pigs in a blanket, etc Produce: Spanish Clementines $.98 for a 5$ box Farm Stand Russet Potatoes $.40/# in a 5# bag Meat: Fresh chicken Drumsticks, Thighs or Leg Quarters (Family V

Meal Plan Monday

Image
I am out of town for a few days this week - so I have what seems like a smaller list planned. Ms Sarah has a few sleepovers and Mr Andy will have to fend for himself, LOL! Here is the list: Breakfast will include: -breakfast cookies -oatmeal (It's frigging cold out!) -cinnamon rolls -fruit crepes Lunches as normal (sandwiches, soup, left overs, tappas plates) and for dinner... Monday (Italian Night)- spaghetti & meatballs Tuesday - meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans Wednesday (Soup day) - Navy Bean Soup Thursday - Fridge Clean Out! Friday - I'm out of town Saturday (Meatless Night!)- I'm out of town Sunday - Dinner out with a gift card! What are you going to feed YOUR family this week?

Crock Pot Oatmeal

This comes out super creamy - and is nice to wake up to! You can keep the leftovers in the fridge to just heat and eat for a few days. 2 cups old fashioned oats 6 cups water Optional items --cinnamon --dried fruits --spices Put the oats and the water, along with anything else you want to add to the mix in the crock pot, turn on to low, and go to bed. To reheat leftovers, just add a little water, and stir it a couple of times while microwaving until it's hot.
