3 packs FREE popcorn from Target today - they were FREE when you bought a featured Avenger character movie... which were on a few wish lists! The DVDs were normally 19.99 but on sale for $12.99 AND you got either soda, candy or popcorn for FREE with it. 3 movies = 3 FREE popcorn! :) Then off to get a few things at Aldi: grape tomatoes, mushrooms, bag of apples, powdered sugar, brown sugar, loaf of white bread, 2# baby carrots, some snacky chips, flowers, flavored water and yes, I forgot my bags and bought one (sigh!) The flowers are not in the food budget - so that $3.99 comes off the total before it is added to our grocery budget. We couldn't really post what we did for Miss Sarah's teacher early as she reads my blog, LOL! SO -- here is what she got today: A vase of handmade flowers and a balloon! Sarah made some paper flowers: I made some paper flowers: We made a pencil vase (held together by rubber bands instead of glue - so they could be used) Together, they made a nice bouquet: Sarah put a message on the balloon: And it all went into a tissue lined box. :) Happy Teachers Day Mrs Fritz!

When baking on DARK cookie sheets - you need to turn the oven temp 25 degrees lower than what your recipe tells you? If you don't, you will find that you usually burn the bottoms of your cookies and cakes! You also want to remove them quickly and put onto a cooling rack as the pans seem to still "cook" even though they are out of the oven.

Here are just a few fun things I got yesterday -- more are in the car yet! (Say it with me: Mermaid Tail!) I was really under the weather yesterday and didn't get done nearly what I had hoped to...but DID hit a few sales. Here is some of my bounty - more pictures tomorrow!  A mix of dresses, shirts, shorts, along with a princess robe and fall jammies. I SCORED on the American Girl history books ($.25 each) and love the tape/book sets for the back yard this summer. The Hello Kitty CD player was only $1 and works great - the celebrate craft ribbon is for me -- I had to get SOMETHING for myself, LOL!  I took $50 with me and had $11.25 left over... and I really don't think I will spend the full budget this year! I have almost everything that was needed -- and a little extra. Miss Sarah and I love our "girls day outs" when we occasionally hit the local Indian Buffet for a fix on Chicken Tiki Masala! A little of that...a little rice...a little Naan (Indian flat bread) and we are in heaven! SHE eats there free, I do not. It runs about $10.00 - but there is a huge selection and dessert too! It certainly is cheaper to make it at home! Keep in mind that this recipe makes TWO complete meals for the three of us... one to eat that first night and a complete dinner for the freezer! Start with about two pounds of diced chicken breast and one diced onion  in the skillet with a tablespoon of butter and tablespoon of lemon juice. Simmer until the chicken is no longer pink and then toss in the spices. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin 1 teaspoon Garam Masala (Indian spice blend) 2 teaspoons Paprika 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic (Yes, it pays to have a Penzey's Spice Store close - I LOVE their Paprika!)
