The Big Princess Party... It was a SUCCESS!! (A lot of pictures)

You have been hearing me talk about it for a few months (HERE)  -- and today was the day! We invited twenty and got ten. Take ten adorable little girls, plus Miss Sarah's "big sister" from next door -- and it was a recipe for a Magical Time :) Everything was ready for them to arrive:  Each place setting had a bottle of Princess Punch, baby carrots in dip, Princess cookies, Princess Popcorn and a Crown Sandwich - made with my A-MAZ-ING Sour Cherry Jam and put on the dressed up paper plates ( shown HERE ) Let's not forget the Princess Cupcakes...  The "Design-A-Crown" tables were ready... Even the "Pin the Jewel On The Crown" Game!  They seemed to love it all! First they crafted... Then they ate...  Singing Happy Birthday to the Little Princess... Princesses need style and grace -- a good test is walking with a book on your head! We checked to see who could do it the furthest... but e

Princess Popcorn!!!

I had pinned a neat idea - for colored "caramel" corn -- from HERE . I had envisioned a batch of pink and purple corn, with Pink Lemonade and Grape Kool Aid. This was a GREAT idea because, when watching the sales, you can stock up on Kool Aid packets for $.05 or less! So I tried her recipe for the pink. Oiy! What work and it took over an hour...AND I had to use both the stove and oven! Holy hot kitchen Batman! Final result? Not the best. I didn't think it coated the corn well - as you can see. If you remember my Big Red Popcorn , I KNEW there was a better way to do this!! So I tweaked my recipe for the concept. Here goes - the EASY way! I started with 1 stick of butter, 1/4 cup white corn syrup and 1 cup sugar Pop it in the microwave and zap 2 minutes, remove and stir. Zap 1 more minute, until "bubbly". Remove from microwave and stir in 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 packet of Kool Aid. This will give you the pretty color - bu

Frugal Friday: How to Save on Lessons

Easy. Become one of the coaches, LOL! That is what I did and got back 50% of what I had paid for Miss Sarah's tennis lessons this summer. I was going to be there any way and instead of sitting and reading a book, I get to be hands on and have fun with the kids! Most programs have a guideline of instructions and quick training so you have an idea of what you are supposed to do as well as having people on hand to check in with you as the training progresses. They have proven that over 70% of kids drop out of sports by the age of 13 because they don't find it fun - so the new way of teaching is to make sure it's fun while also slowly introducing skills to them. Miss Sarah had a blast and can't wait to go back! Me? I got a cool black Coach's T-shirt! :)
