Christmas Craft Countdown: Decorated Waxed Tissue

Image
Today means there are 58 days days until we get the big visit from St Nicholas. Now, don't panic! To try and help you, we have put together a list of great stuff to help you count down to the big event. There will be 31 different crafts that you still have time to make, for gifts, in October. There will be 30 different cookie recipes, that you can gather ingredients to bake, off in November. There will be 24 different things you can add to your family holiday traditions in December - to help keep the Christ in Christmas. Let's keep going with those crafts! I found this gem on Martha Stewart but it turns can be simpler than just punching a bunch of hearts out! There are a LOT of fun, patterned tissue papers ... Put down a towel, then waxed paper, then tissue, then waxed paper and then top with one more towel. Iron it to fuse the layers together, minus the towels. WHY would you want to do this NOW? So you are ready to festively package all those great holiday treats y

Car Dancing and Girl Scout Cookies

Image
Have you ever been driving down the highway when a great, I mean AWESOME, song came on the radio? You found yourself really into it, singing along and kind of "car dancing" too? It's a lot of fun until you see the cute red and blue lights flashing in your rear view mirror. {ahem}. A few things help in this situation: 1) A good driving record 2) A van FULL of Girl Scout cookies I swear the State Trooper was about 12 years old (the older I get, the younger THEY look...) but he was super excited to look past me and see a few cases of cookies riding along on the front passenger seat. Then he realized that there were a LOT more of them behind me...I thought he was going to start dancing or something, he was so excited, LOL! Instead of getting a ticket for "allegedly" speeding, I got off with a warning and he bought 2 boxes of Thin Mints and 2 boxes of Peanut Butter Patties. Yes, it is Girl Scout Cookie time in my area -- you might want to buy a few cases from my

Fat Jacks All You Can Eat Chicken Dinner-Winner!

Image
Ok. This is not the best possible picture as it was quickly taken with my phone before ripping into it like a monkey on a cupcake. Ha! What you are looking at is the first serving of the Fat Jacks all-you-can-eat Sunday Chicken dinner. Half a chicken that is first smoked, then finished on the char-broiler with a glaze and cut into 4 pieces. Add steak fries, coleslaw, baked beans and the best garlic toast you could sink your teeth into and it is heaven on a plate!   Then, you aren't even half though it before the server comes over and asks if you want more of anything... not just chicken, but any of it. You can specify white or dark meat in your re-order and don't forget another piece of that bgarlic bread! It is only $9.50 and SOOOO worth it. Seriously.   It IS a kid friendly place - they have a few games and puzzles around their fireplace (from tic-tac-toe to the United States) and a simple kid's menu. (Hot dogs, grilled cheese, ribs, chicken tenders, etc). W

What to look for in Halloween Clearance

Image
Instead of candy, they have fun things like pretzel, teddy grahams and mini Oreos bagged up for the little tick or treaters. A bag of 18 mini packs was on sale for $5.99 and not a huge bargain. When the signs say 75% off and that $1.49 becomes a pretty good deal as it's now less than ten cents a portion for a snack or to tuck into a lunch! Two years ago, I found Mini Oreos and I put 8 bags into my cart. They rang up 90% off! $.59 was AWESOME for those, that was a price drop to just three cents a serving! WHO CARED if they are in orange bags with oak leaves on them? Of course, I had a few coupons for $.50/1 any Oreos..........so $.9 a bag ($.005 per serving) was even better! :) Last year? I went to Target and got all of this: I picked up chips, 8 big things of napkins (for less than $.75 each), Fruit Roll Ups and Pop Tart Snacks (for church Sunday School list), kettle corn and Cheese popcorn (for school lunches), Frito Lay Snacks (for hubby lunches), Halloween towel, eye

Christmast Craft Countdown: Terra Cotta Cake Stand

I found this gem on Pinterest but it turns out that it was just a photo... I couldn't find the source! The terra cotta small pots and large trays should be easy to find on clearance right now.... use E-3000 or Gorilla glue to attach them, then - you COULD spray paint them. This would be a super cute gift for anyone who is a big gardener. I would give this as a gift but add some home made baked treats to the top

It looks like there will be 3 inserts in the paper this weekend ... a SmartSource, P & G and a Red Plum . Airborne, Advil, Nestle, Buddig and more... looks like more fun things to stock the coupon box with! You can check out what coupons are on the national line up -- but keep in mind that we may see slightly different ones in our own area. Want more coupons? World's Greatest Invention: The Flip Fold

Image
Picture this: It was 2:00 in the morning and I was house sitting for my Mom and couldn't sleep. One of those shopping channels was on and I got sucked in...you see. It was a novelty to me - a shopping channel as we don't have cable TV at home and they have a bajillion channels on their U-Verse. Yup. I did. I bought a flip fold . WHAT exactly is it? That cute and funky thing that helps you perfectly fold your clothes so they take up less space in your dresser drawers. Here is the thing: It works. Here is the better thing: Your husband will love to play with it so much that you never have to fold his clothes and put them away! S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y. What does my husband like so much about it? That it does T-shirts like a dream. That folded clothes have no wrinkles when he pulls them out of his dresser. That it is easy to use. That it is FAST for folding things up. And, he says it doubles as a cat toy: he always has to shut the cat out of the be
