Copps Run Today

One of the perks of being a class parent, is the job of collecting cash from the other parents for teacher gifts. When you are told to get gift cards, you know you are going to use it for pumping your individual transactions up to that $25 threshold.

I had to get two gift cards today - and then one for the giveaway on my blog
:)

I would have shared my plan in advance, but seriously, I worked it out 10 minutes before leaving for the store today. I *was* going to get 4 Colgate toothbrushes for my food pantry donations, but they were out and I punted with the Tornadoes. Hubby loves those for an occasional late night stack and I had coupons that were expiring. Considering it was 2PM by the time I was able to get to the store, I am not surprised that a few things were out of stock.

Here are my three transactions:

Transaction #1
  • Teacher $25 gift card
  • 5 tornadoes @$1.79 (normally $2.49) Used 5 $1/1 coupons (doubled)
total paid $23.95 - less the $25 gift card, a profit of $1.05

Transaction #2
  • Teacher $25 gift card
  • 6 Hungry Jack hash browns at $1.25 (normally $2.00) used 3 $1/2 coupons (doubled)
  • 1 dozen eggs @ .88 (normally 1.25) used a $1/1 WYB 2 HJ hash browns (doubled)
  • Chi Chis Tortillas $1.39 (normally $2.39) used a $.50/1 (doubled)
total paid $25.77 - less the $25 gift card, $0.77 OOP

Transaction #3
  • Roundy's $25 gift card for one of my readers!
  • 2 Nutella @$3.79 - used 2 $1/1 (doubled) - I know, not on sale, but I figured it would work, LOL!
  • Ken's Ranch salad dressing $2 (normally $3.37)- used $1/1 (doubled)
  • Hormel kid's meal ravioli $2.09 - used a $1/1 (doubled) - good for a night that we have a younger sitter.
  • New York garlic toast $2.00 (normally $2.85) -used $.55/1 (doubled)
  • **Also used a $4 Wags RR
total paid $25.57 - less the $25 gift card, $.57 OOP

Grand total spent today $.29, saved $43.69 (99.3%)
Not quite free, but pretty darned close, LOL!

I plan to make breakfast burritos for the freezer with the tortillas, eggs and some sausage that is living in my chest freezer. We have yet to try the hash browns, we have about a dozen boxes now. We will try them pan fried, then in a fritatta. They might end up a stock pile swap item or food pantry donation too, we will see.
