Copps and Pick N Save ad (7/14-7/20)

Carrie did a great job at Pocket Your Dollars on this (as always!) -- I usually just tweak her list with our prices as her ad comes out four days before ours.

This is a GREAT Flier this week - too bad we can't double TEN coupons per transaction!!!  (sigh)

Here is her list - (Carrie's list)  just a few notes from me:

1) Produce: Use the FREE Fresh Express salad coupon from Vocalpoint.com - if you got it. That nets you TWO free bags on the BOGO special.

2) Meats: The Whole Chickens aren't a bad price, we have seen them lower lately...the 5/$20 meat deal isn't really any deal...unless you are doing the salmon. 5# of salmon for $20 is a GREAT deal as most places have ONE pound for $10-12. (like they have on the front of their flier for FRESH salmon) You can grill it with olive oil and a little salt/pepper for a yummy, healthy treat! Even my 5 year old will eat it!

3) Frozen Items: Go to Kemps.com for the coupon on the ice cream treats...on the Palermos Pizza - there have been Monopoly coupons for FREE pizza - that would give you TWO FREE.

4) Grocery Items: the Emerald Breakfast to Go is SUPER yummy! Try it! Fruit snacks? Even HyVee has their brand at $1/box this week - it's time to stock up for back to school!

    Just an FYI. We found out the hard way that Watertown pick n save is no longer doing double coupons on Saturdays. Only Wednesdays.

    Sorry Jesse -- last week Saturday was their last one - they did NOT extend it again. Some stores were trying to do it on their own but they couldn't get an override on their register systems.

    They will NOT have it on Saturdays as long as the Monopoly game is going on -- or so my sources say. Copps is done too - so I feel your pain!

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
