  1. Dannelle-I'm told this is illegal, it's called gang cutting. Can you clear this up for me?

  2. Hi Lisa!

Gang cutting is illegal. The correct definition of "Gang Cutting" is when stores submit gangs of coupons that are cut in one swoop from unsold newpapers and submit them for credit without customers buying the products.

There have been stores caught doing this - even a sting operation with a FAKE product coupon that was actually redeemed by stores.

Now, a store may not receive credit for the coupons UNLESS they can prove they sold x amount of product to match x amount of coupons. The store can be audited at any time.

Some *think* it is also a reference to clipping services -- as they are technically illegal, as they are selling a coupon, even though they say they are simply charging a "clipping fee".

This has been a hot topic/debate lately as Jill Catildo did a great article on it this spring. Sadly, she has such a fight on her board about it that she shut off comments to it but I do think it's part ofthe reason places like Proctor and Gamble now have "limit of 4" on most of their coupons.
    :)
