Shopping At HyVee

After seeing the 2 day sale at HyVee -- I knew I had to hit it today!

$.59 for Hunt's Canned Pasta sauce (normally $1.89) jumped out at me, as I got the same deal last year! It was their annual "rock bottom price" sale on this and I wanted 20 cans of it...that should hold me until this sale next year between quick pasta nights, and the no bake lasagna I make for families with new babies.

Butter was also a great price --> $1.99 a pound for salted or unsalted, store brand. I grabbed two pounds for me and six for my Mom.
The total receipt was $28.96 -- but I get $11.94 from Mom to drop MY total to $17.06, which was like buying 9 cans of sauce and getting 11 FREE, along with 2# of butter.

SCORE!

Chili Dog Casserole

I know this sounds strange -- and yummy at the same time, LOL You need to know the family history to "get it". We are part German, part English, part Irish and part Tennessee Hillbilly. Seriously. Did you ever see that black and white movie of Gary Cooper's called Sergeant York? Yes, my family comes from the Dyer/Yorks -- same family. Some of the "family recipes" are too far out there for even me to try... But this is a pot luck favorite. SUPER Easy and SUPER Easy to make healthier. We choose the middle of the road option, LOL You need:  1 package hot dog buns (8 ct) 1 package hot dogs 2 cups chili (or 1 can) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese "fixins" That's it! You could do gluten free or whole grain wheat buns, turkey or tofu dogs, vegetarian chili, vegan or light cheese, you get the drift.
