Weekend Fun

We are entering that "akward" time of year where summer is almost over but fall hasn't started yet. Soon we will have things back like Kids at the Rotunda and family friendly events at the Waisman Center...but there will be little "new" stuff over the next couple of weeks.

All Weekend:

Middleton Good Neighbor Festival at Fireman's Park.
Like most smaller festivals, this give back a lot to the local community - and is usually more affordable than the big fairs...the parade is on Sunday. See more at http://goodneighborfestival.com/

Saturday, August 25th

The Dane County Farmer's Market on the Square!!!!
Squeaky Cheese Curds, Baked goods, spring produce AND the beautiful downtown Madison - what more could you ask for?

Chemistry Fun at UW Space Place
Space Place family workshops are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m. for children ages 6-10 and their parents. The workshops are free and open to the public. No registration is required for any of the workshops but attendance is LIMITED to the first 50 people. This weekend: Sink or Float: experiments on surface tension.
Space Place is at 2300 S Park St, in the Villager Mall, just north of the Beltline Highway.

Visit the UW Geology Museum
1215 W. Dayton St., 262-2399,http://www.geologymuseum.org/ (Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free.) —Besides its extensive mineral, rock and fossil collections behind glass, kids can touch rocks from a time when there were volcanoes in Wisconsin, see rocks and minerals that glow, and stand under huge mastodon tusks. Great for those like my daughter who want to be a Paleontologist!
