Emergency Prep: Food

I had started a series on Emergency Preparation and it's been a while since I added to it. So far we talked about WHY you need to think about it, having a water supply just in case you can't use the faucet and quick "bug out bags" if you need to leave your home.

Today, we are going to talk about food.
I have seen different things on Pinterest, like 3 Day kits, etc that are full of items that are loaded with sugar, preservatives and have a relatively short shelf life. I know, any port in a storm, so to speak. However, I would rather have quality food for my family that is easily portable, easy to prepare and has a decent shelf life.

Enter Wise Food Storage!

Wise Food Storage’s ready-made meals carry a shelf life of 25 years, with absolutely no rotation needed. That's 25 years without the stress of wondering if your family will have enough good, usable food when emergency strikes.

They have things like multi grain cereal, fruit, veggies, chicken ala king, cheesy lasagna, mac n cheese, stroganoff, honey glazed cereal, and more! I LOVE that these cook in the pouch so you only need a way to boil water.

One bucket would serve for a week, for 2-3 people...and is easy to store next to your bottled water and hand crank emergency radio. If you need more, they stack easy too.

If you are just starting and a bucket is totally out of your budget, try getting a few things at a time and building your own kit! You can get 5% off and FREE shipping by clicking on the picture below.
If you don't think this is an important topic --
just ask those who are still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Sandy:
No power...to cook things or keep the fridge/freezer going.
Water damage...with most of their kitchens under water for a period of time.

The minute the emergencies were declared -
people cleared the shelves at the stores and many simply couldn't get any supplies.
{sigh}
Generators went from a few hundred dollars to THOUSANDS because of greedy merchants.
Planning now, a little at a time, is the smartest thing any of us can do for our families.

Now -- here is your reward for reading this far:
My FAVORITE thing about this company?
You can ask for a free sample to actually TRY their product before investing in it!!

Now, before everyone and their uncle thinks it is a freebie with no strings attached,
they screen the sample requests with a quick phone call and few simple questions.
They find roughly how many people you are "prepping" for and
how many weeks worth of "prepping" that you are looking at.

They will follow up a few weeks AFTER the sample and
offer you a better deal than their 5% off!!

Personally, I am adding a few buckets to our stockpile over the next few months.
One fruit, one veggie, one meat.
I also want the "bucket kit" which is a nice way for saying "potty", LOL

Blessings-
Dannelle
