Shopping Today...and monthly budget review

Today I hit Copps for a few things -- like those instant potatoes that were on my stock up list!
At $1.05 and I had $1.00/2 coupons... that makes them $.05 each. I got a year's supply (24) of them.

Now, before you say {Ewww...} let me tell you that I use them to help thicken soups in a pinch instead of adding more roux/fat/cornstarch. They do add a creamy layer of flavor and you can use one bag for 2-4 batches of soup.

I also added milk and took advantage of that Kellogg's Keebler deal and picked up International Delite for scones this winter.  I get $5 back on those from SavingStar!

So, here is my summary:
Transaction #1
5 International Delights @$2.09
10 bags Hungry Jack Instant Potatoes @$1.05
1 gallon milk @$3.59
1 bag carrots @$1.00
--coupons used: (5) $1.00/2 Hungry Jack- doubled, $4.00 Wags RR
Final price: $25.54 for $11.54 AND I get back $5 from SavingStar!
$6.54 out of pocket

Transaction #2
14 bags Hungry Jack Instant Potatoes @$1.05
1 box Rice Krispies @$1.99 (was 3.48)
2 boxes Club Crackers @$1.99 (was 3.73)
2 boxes Graham Crackers @$1.99 (was 3.57)
1 bag carrots @$1.00
--coupons used (7) $1.00/2 Hungry Jack (5 doubled), $1.00/2 club crackers, $1.00/2 graham crackers, $.50/1 Rice Krispies
Final price: $33.78 for $11.15 out of pocket

Grand total: $59.32 for $17.69, saving 70%.

I know,  I would have done better if the potatoes were on sale...but my coupons expired on 12/31. {sigh} AND, that was the LAST thing I wanted to add to my stockpile. I was out!

I can hear a few people now ...
"Why didn't you use coupons on the International Delites?"
-->I did, the SavingStar ones.
You are NOT supposed to use BOTH SavingStar and paper coupons on the same item.

This is my LAST shopping trip of the year....

So, quick budget summary:

$100.00 for the month
-$6.15 (Sarah gets one school lunch a week @$2.05)
-$3.79 Sentry
-$9.06 Aldi
-$2.89 Copps
$78.11 To go yet this month.
-$44.12 Double Double Daze
-$9.26 (food items from Target on 12/26)
-$6.42 Aldi
-$17.69 Copps today

$0.62 left for the month...

I am UNDER budget and that means I get to add that to my annual total of $25.14 (under) and that means I am $25.76 UNDER for the year!

That is THREE years now, sticking to that $100.00 a month budget.
It IS possible.

It is called "Stockpile System".

Now, that brings me to another subject: USING that stockpile!
I am OVERSTOCKED right now and we simply have to use what we have.

January will be a STOCKPILE CHALLENGE month here -- with fun and games for all!
My grocery budget for that month?
$25
That should cover milk, bananas and eggs.
But you will soon read about that...
:)

How did your month wind up?
