Home Depot Kids Workshop!
9am-12pm

Build a Bird Feeder!
  • FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 - 12 offered the 1st Saturday of every month at all The Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.
  • All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.
  • Paint will be provided at the workshop for children to personalize their bird feeder craft!

Visit with Cookie Mouse!
11:00 am at Barnes & Noble West Towne!
Families with young children are invited to meet costume character Cookie Mouse. The Children's Department staff will share stories about Cookie Mouse's adventures. Parents, bring your cameras!

Kid's Club at MICHAEL’S Craft Store:
Free Family Craft Time, Kids Crafts and more. The next FREE Family Craft Time session isn't set yet but every Saturday, they basically have a babysitter so you can shop! You reserve a craft session for your kid for just $2 (per child) for 30 minutes. Sessions start every half hour from 10 am – 11:30 am (Thanks TotallyTarget.com !)
Kids in the Rotunda
Every Saturday October thru May - Overture Center for the Arts
Overture Center offers free arts programs designed for children and families at 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM. The popular performing arts series for children and families offers a relaxed, kid-friendly environment in which to enjoy a diverse lineup of local and regional musicians, storytellers, jugglers, theater troupes, magicians and dancers.
The 1 PM performances are sign language interpreted. Kids in the Rotunda takes place on the Rotunda Stage. This week--Ken Lonnquist!

Visit the UW Geology Museum
1215 W. Dayton St., 262-2399, http://www.geologymuseum.org/ (Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free.) —Besides its extensive mineral, rock and fossil collections behind glass, kids can touch rocks from a time when there were volcanoes in Wisconsin, see rocks and minerals that glow, and stand under huge mastodon tusks. Great for those like my daughter who want to be a Paleontologist!

Party with the Madison Mallards!
2:00PM Annual First Pitch Event...at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center.
This family friendly event is free and open to the public. Ballpark food, soda and water will be served by Mallards staff and Mallards mascot Maynard G. Mallard will be in attendance. The Mallards giant bounce house will also be open for use.

The Memorial Union Terrace
They always seem to have something fun going on there - music, Babcock ice cream, etc and there is no charge!
Last time we went there were FREE crafts, a GIANT inflatable Bucky, Balloon animals and an outdoor brat stand (not FREE).

Look for the big orange chair and turn it into a photo-op like we did with Miss Sarah and the peanut of Ashely from Coupons for Wisconsin already this summer!
