Beating the Heat...

Not everyone has a pool in their backyard to take refuge in ... even on these blistering hot days, we have to be careful! It's simply dangerous to be in the pool mid day when it tops 90 degrees - we wait until a little later in the afternoon.

What can you do if you DON'T have a pool and are simply too hot?
  1. Go to a McDonald's that has a play area. The kids can play their hearts out and you can sip a bottomless large soda for $1.
  2. Go to your local public library! The summer reading programs begin today -- but there is SO MUCH MORE there to do!
  3. How about catching a movie? I shared the kids summer film series with you already, but we are going for almost FREE! Black Friday I picked up some $25 Marcus Gift cards and with movies only $2 each - one card = 12 tickets!
  4. Hit the stores.
This one is dangerous if you have no self control and could find yourself taking advantage of all the sales out there. Try to stick to the main malls - the center areas only. Take a good book and find a comfy bench. If you have kids - park yourself by one of the the play areas!
No matter what you do, please make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids - keeping hydrated is the BEST way to protect yourself from heatstroke and sunstroke.

What is YOUR favorite way to stay cool when it's a scorcher?
